Jack’s New Big-Boy Room! July 24, 2009

Well, we did it. Jack moved into his new big-boy room last Saturday! We got the furniture delivered in the afternoon and he slept there Sat. night. Despite some major excitement and jumping on the bed, he did great! Even slept until 7:15 am on Sunday! He took his nap in there on Sunday too and has done well every night. He calls it his “new room” and the nursery is his “old room!” We’re still doing minor decorating, but most of his stuff is in there. I just have to figure out what to hang above his bed and where to put the wooden letters of his name, get some mahogany wall shelves for photos, etc…

His quilt is the solar system. It’s really cute! It has orange piping around the edge so it matches the curtains And of course the sheets are “Cars” – Mater and McQueen! When you are looking at the photo, his big dresser is to the very left. In that far corner we have his rocking chair from the Schwedts (you can’t see it). We got the one little navy bookshelf last weekend but I think he needs one more! His fish, Rudy, just happened to have an orange tank! His closet, which currently is Gerry’s closet, is at the foot of the bed. Oh, and the photo may be a bit dark but he has 4 drawers under his bed/mattress. He has lots of drawer space. It’s coming along so nicely and he loves his room.

I will admit I was a bit sad to move him out of his crib because he’s growing so quickly. I had the same feeling on Saturday night that I had the night we moved him from his bassinet to his crib.

Don’t worry, we still have the guest room on the first floor for visitors!

Paige & Hailey Start 1st Grade July 24, 2009

It’s hard to believe that Paige and Hailey are in 1st grade! They started last week. Their school district is on trimesters, so they go back to school earlier but get more breaks throughout the year. Riley came out to wait for the bus too!

Riley turned one on Valentine’s Day! I can’t believe how fast the year has gone by! I wish we could have been there to celebrate.

Jack’s 2-Year Photos February 15, 2009

We took Jack’s 2-year photos last month, and we got some really cute shots. They gave us a CD so we’re able to post our favorites.

Gerry and I were NOT planning on being in any photos, but since Jack takes a little time to warm up the photographers were snapping anyway. We ended up really liking the one with Jack and me. We got it in black and white because my roots needed a touch-up – haha! As I said, we weren’t supposed to be in any pics!

Jack’s First Sleepover February 15, 2009

Last night we had some dear friends stay the night. Lindsay and Rico along with their beautiful kids, Evie and Max. If you’ve been following the blog, you may remember that Evie was Jack’s first kiss over a year ago! That was the last time we saw them. They live in Germany, as Rico is German (Lindsay is British). Max is just three months old, and he has the same gorgeous eyes as his sister.

So, Jack had his first sleepover! The kids were so cute – and sooooo wired! They were bouncing off the walls before bed. We read stories but I don’t think they heard the words! They were too busy rolling around on the floor and giggling!

They’re back in 10 days for more sleepover fun, so we’ll be sure to get some pics of Max!

Jack’s Party in Miami February 5, 2009

Once again I am getting behind! I had the flu all last week so it threw me off. I kept meaning to post these pics, but you know how it goes! My favorite saying … better late than never!

We did a party at the house in Miami. I know, I’m crazy! Actually, it was great and the kids had a lot of fun. I had coloring, playdough and stickers set up in the kitchen, and the kids just loved playing with all of the toys.

I also had a project of making a Thomas or Rosie (Thomas’ friend – she’s lavender) pillow. I got the idea from Karyn’s party when we made pumpkin pillows. So, I cut out all the pieces, sewed the circles (yes, I sewed for the FIRST time!) and then all of the other pieces were on sticky felt so we just had to assemble them, stuff em and then I hot glued the opening. Of couse the moms ended up making most of the pillows, but it was a blast!

By the way, this is the last time you’ll see the orange walls! We just finished painting them a light mocha, and it looks really nice. Pics to come soon!

Jack is 2 Years Old! January 20, 2009

Jack turned 2 on Sunday! It’s hard to believe my baby isn’t a baby anymore! While he wouldn’t sit with the sign, he was happy to hold it in the air!

Jack’s Party in St. Louis January 16, 2009

This past weekend we flew to St. Louis to celebrate Jack’s, Paige’s and Hailey’s birthdays. We had a party for Jack at the Transportation Museum. They have a room called Creation Station, and it was amazing! We could not have asked for a better party, and all of the kids loved it. It’s a large room with a lot of stations like dress up, cars, puzzles, kitchens, Thomas trains and tracks, etc. And there is a huge pirate ship that the kids can climb on and in. Unfortunately we didn’t get a photo of it!
