I know he has red-eye, but I think this picture is just too cute! Jack is playing with his penny car that you pull back and it goes forward on its own.

Happy Father’s Day! June 18, 2008

Hi all! We hope you had a wonderful Father’s Day! We had a fabulous day! Actually, our festivities started Saturday night. Sabine and Karl babysat, and I surprised Gerry with tickets to see Eddie Izzard live! He had no clue where we were going or what we were doing until we got inside the theater! I was so happy I was able to pull it off. It was really cool to see Eddie. For those wo don’t know who he is, he’s a very famous British comedian and on the U.S. tv show “The Riches” with Minnie Driver. Anyway, you would have thought we were seeing Sting or Mick Jagger the way the audience reacted when he came out. He has a cult-like following! It was sold-out and they were standing and screaming! It was nuts! We loved the show.

On Sunday we went to the new waterpark here in Miami. It just opened a few weeks ago, and it’s really cool. The artist Romero Britto did all of the decor, and it’s bright and fun! There are two HUGE pools for the kids to play in with slides, fountains, buckets dumping water, etc. The floor of the pool is rubber so it’s soft. There’s a big pool to swim in as well and also a lazy river “ride.” You sit in innertubes and float along. We did that twice. The first time he wasn’t crazy about it but the second he just relaxed and had fun!

When we first got there Jack was not happy. He clung to me like a koala, as you can see in the below photo!

We were surprised because he loves his baths. That said, we had just transitioned him into the big bathtub and he wasn’t loving his baths anymore! He would cry… :)

So, after 45 minutes, he finally realized that (1) hey, this is cool (2) I can make big splashes (3) it’s lots of fun!

Gerry’s tattoo is of a sail training ship he once worked on.

Here you can see Britto’s work. The snakes are his. We actually have a Britto painting in our home of a puppy. We really like his work.

Splashing is FUN!

Gerry and Jack went down the “little” slide! Jack wasn’t sure what was going on! :)

Phew! It’s exhausting having fun!

We had a great time! And since he had so much fun in the end, I thought maybe he was past his fear of the water in big spaces. So, when we got home we put him in his big bathtub … and he loved it! Typical! So, we are now good for baths in the big tub and swimming in the big pool! FUN DAY!

Two Little Ballerinas June 11, 2008

Paige (left) and Hailey have their big dance recital this Friday evening. I’m sad we won’t be there. They look so pretty in their costumes (despite the excessive make-up! haha!). Shelley told me that their teacher said “If they look like a clown, you’ve done the make-up right!” They are dancing to “The Wheels on the Bus” and another one I can’t remember, “Allouette” maybe???

Jack Loves Bubbles June 9, 2008

Filed under: General, Photos — julescruise @ 6:22 pm

Like most kids, Jack LOVES bubbles! We do them a lot in the house since it’s so hot outside! We have an automatic bubble machine shaped like a dog that he loves. But these bubbles are the Gymboree bubbles. We were at a party that had these, and they were the best bubbles we’d ever seen! They sell them in the stores so we bought a set. It comes with the bubble wand that looks like a horn, and the bubbles. They don’t pop for some reason! They were all over the floor and I had to Swiffer them! haha! We even found them on the stairs, which are around the corner, and all over his highchair and the walls!

General Update June 2, 2008

Filed under: General — julescruise @ 4:10 pm

Hi all! Hope you had a nice weekend. I just thought I’d post a general update, since Jack seems to be doing so much these days. Sorry I don’t have a photo. I need to take some! He is babbling so much. It’s really cute and makes me laugh. He’ll go on and on in jibberish and then throw in a word he knows, like “car” or “Ella!” :) His new thing is “thank you” but it sounds like “tay-ooooooo.” We were so surprised when he started saying it! Every time we hand him something he says it! It’s funny! I guess we drilled it into him by saying it every time we handed him something!

He’s also pulling himself up now. Better late than never! He pulls himself onto his chair, pulls up on the couch, pulls up in his crib…he loves to climb on everything. Call me paranoid, but because he is showing his climbing ability so early, we decided to anchor some of the furniture to the wall. I have read or seen too many stories in the news where a kid climbed up a shelf or dresser and it fell on them. So, I got some great safety items at OneStepAhead.com. Our BabiesRUs doesn’t carry furniture anchors. I also got something to anchor the TV to the entertainment center, as the one upstairs isn’t so big and I can see him pulling on it! That was our Sunday project.

It’s getting so hot here that we didn’t do much this weekend. Next weekend I want to try to go to the new waterpark they JUST opened in Miami! It looks so fun. It’s called Grapeland, and there’s a baby area and everything. Then it’s Father’s Day weekend! Yeah! I have surprises in store but I can only tell you about them AFTER the weekend cause Gerry reads the blog! ha! He goes out of town on the 19th for a week but the Abowitz’s arrive for their vacation so that makes it ok! Yippee!

Ok, better get back to work. I have been blogging for my client for 3 hours, yes 3 hours! So, I wanted to take a quick break and post on our blog!
