Beach Bum! May 27, 2008

Happy Memorial Day! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! We took Jack to the beach for the first time (I know, we LIVE in Florida!)! We wanted to wait until it got a bit warmer (cause the water is still cold) and during the summer it’s just too hot, so May is the perfect time! We went nice and early to avoid the crowds – and sun. People here don’t go anywhere until after 10 am. We got there at 9 am and it was quiet. By the time we left at 11 am it was a zoo.

Jack loved playing in the sand … at first! Then he didn’t like it in his toes and refused to put his feet down! We even brought a sheet and he wouldn’t put his feet on it either! He also wouldn’t go in the water. He clung to Gerry like a monkey! He loves to swim and take a bath, so we were surprised. It was a beautiful day and we can’t wait to take him back.

Riley is 3 months! May 19, 2008

Here’s a new photo of Riley. Hard to believe she is 3 months already! She has a halo of orange around her head, proof that red hair is on the way! ha! I think she looks more like a Greefield than a Davis, but she is a cutie no matter whom she looks like!

Happy Belated Mother’s Day! May 16, 2008

Well, as usual the time got away from me. Happy Belated Mother’s Day to everyone who’s a mommy! I hope everyone had a wonderful day like I did. We got up early (my only complaint – haha!) and went to the botanical gardens. We’re members so we go often. They are having a Botero exhibit, and it’s very cool. Botero is the artist that paints chubby subjects. They are very cool. The garden has some of his statues, and you can see one in the above photo. It was really hot. I think it was around 95 degrees but really humid. Then we came home for Jack’s nap and later went for a walk at Merrick Park, a nice outdoor mall. We bumped into our friend Terry so we sat and chatted for a while. It was nice to catch up with her.

Jack is doing great. VERY ACTIVE now that he’s crawling. He keeps trying to go out the doggie door, but we stop him! He also likes to crawl under the table and desk! He’s such a boy. I think we’re really going to have our hands full once he starts to walk!

Well, off to get ready to watch “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Lost.” Lost is my FAVORITE SHOW IN THE WORLD and I am so excited for tonight! Yeah, sad, I know!

Fun Day at the Zoo! May 4, 2008

We went to the zoo this morning and had a GREAT time! We decided to rent a 4-wheel bike because we always say they look like fun. Jack loved riding up front. Because he was up so high he could see the animals really well. And we got a good workout! ha!

We got to the zoo when it opened, and it was so nice and quiet. And, all of the animals were out because it wasn’t hot yet. The highlight of the trip to the zoo was feeding the giraffes! They have this amazing feeding station on a platform and you feed the giraffes lettuce. Last time we were there the line was toooooo long, and then the giraffe that was eating got full so we would have had to wait for another one to come over. This time, we were first in line when it opened!

As you can see from the photo with Gerry, Jack wasn’t as excited as we were! ha! He was a bit frightened, but who can blame him? Their tongues are dark gray with black spots – it was very cool.

Jack even wore his sunglasses some of the time, and he looked like one cool dude! I LOVE THIS PHOTO! Our little superstar!
